Gale was a short film made by the Ball State University Senior Class of 2017. The student-led film was created by a class of 20 people in only 16 weeks. The animation department's professors served as the executive producers.
As Head of Pipeline and Lead Rigger, my jobs included rigging the main character and props, as well as providing technical support to other team members. I led the team in learning pipeline software, as the majority of my classmates had no prior exposure. Additionally, I wrote python tools for the animators to speed up their workflow. I also worked very closely with the looks supervisor and director to composite over 30% of the film’s shots as the film neared completion, learning how to color correct and simulate rain in Adobe After Effects in the process.
Gale has been accepted into four film festivals and was chosen ‘Best of Festival’ at the annual Ball State University spring Frog Baby Film Festival against a field of 20 films. Notably, the film was the only animated film in the bunch.
